Which Roman shade should you choose?

Cordless Roman shades

Choose cordless Roman shades in standard sizes for simple manual operation with no hanging lift cord. This is a practical choice for bedrooms, living rooms and other spaces where you want a clean appearance without charging or pairing a motor.

Motorized Roman shades

Choose motorized Roman shades in standard sizes for rechargeable powered operation and remote control. A compatible smart gateway is optional and is required for app control, schedules and supported voice-assistant features.

Custom-size Roman shades

Choose custom-size Roman shades when a listed standard size does not fit. Enter a finished width of at least 30 cm (11.82 inches) and the exact height in inches, select Inside Mount or Outside Mount, then choose Cordless or add the motorized upgrade.

How custom Roman shade pricing works

Custom Roman shades are priced by billable square footage, with an 8 sq. ft. minimum per finished shade. Enter the finished width and height in inches; the product calculator converts width × height ÷ 144 into square feet and applies the minimum and rounding rule. A separate $20 base custom-shipping charge is added at checkout. Because rates and motor-package prices can change, use the live custom Roman shade calculator as the final price source.

Example: A 48 × 30 inch shade equals 10 sq. ft. The live calculator multiplies the current per-square-foot rate by the billable area, then adds the selected motor package if applicable. Review the calculated quantity, options and total in the cart before checkout.

Light control and fabric colors

Current SunShieldor Roman shades use full-blackout linen-texture fabric for privacy and room darkening. Choose White for the brightest look, Light Gray for a neutral tone or Dark Gray for stronger visual contrast. Final darkness depends on accurate measurements, mount type and possible edge gaps.

Inside mount or outside mount?

• Inside Mount: installs within the window recess for a built-in appearance. Measure the opening carefully and verify that there is enough mounting depth.
• Outside Mount: installs on the wall or trim and can provide broader coverage around the opening.
