These minimums are for one complete cordless shade, before applicable shipping and taxes. A selected color can have a higher base rate. The motor charge is added once per finished shade, not once per billable square foot.
How billable area is calculated
Width (inches) × height (inches) ÷ 144 = exact square feet. The minimum billable area is 8 sq. ft. per shade, even when the measured area is smaller. Above 8 sq. ft., a fraction below 0.5 rounds down; a fraction of 0.5 or more rounds up to the next whole square foot. For example, a 24 × 36 inch window has an exact area of 6 sq. ft. but is billed as 8 sq. ft.
Worked example: a 48 × 60 inch shade
48 × 60 ÷ 144 = 20 billable sq. ft. Estimated cordless base prices are:
- Blackout roller: $199.80 in the lowest-priced color, or $200.80 at the higher color rate.
- Zebra: $200.80 in the lowest-priced color, or $239.80 at the higher color rate.
- Blackout cellular: $299.80.
- Roman: $359.80.
For motorized control, add $180 to the roller, zebra or cellular estimate, or $200 to the Roman estimate. For example, a 48 × 60 inch Roman shade with motorized control is $359.80 + $200 = $559.80 before applicable shipping and taxes.
What changes the final price?
- Finished width and height: larger billable area increases the base price.
- Shade style and color: roller and zebra shades have color-dependent unit rates.
- Control: cordless is included; motorized control adds one upgrade charge per shade.

Why does the product page display a low unit price?
The visible unit price is per billable square foot, not the price of an entire custom shade. After selecting color, entering width and height, and choosing mount and control type, the calculator must show the billable quantity and estimated total. Confirm the same quantity and any motor upgrade in the cart before payment.
