Window Shades FAQ

Find clear answers about SunShieldor roller shades, zebra shades and cellular shades, including cordless and motorized control, standard sizes, custom measurements, colors and mounting.

What types of window shades does SunShieldor make?

SunShieldor focuses on three shade styles: blackout roller shades, zebra shades with alternating sheer and solid bands, and cellular honeycomb shades. Each style is available in cordless and motorized configurations, with standard-size and made-to-measure ordering options.

What is the difference between cordless and motorized shades?

Cordless shades are adjusted manually without a hanging lift cord. Motorized shades use a rechargeable motor and remote control. App, schedule or voice-assistant control may require a compatible gateway and is not universal across every motor or smart-home ecosystem. See our motorized vs. cordless comparison.

Are SunShieldor motorized shades rechargeable?

Yes. Current SunShieldor motorized roller, zebra and cellular shades use rechargeable motors. Charge the motor when the status indicator shows low power. Included accessories and compatible gateway options depend on the selected product configuration.

Which colors are available?

Roller and zebra shades are offered in White, Smoke Gray and Off-White. Cellular shades are offered in Beige, Black and White. Availability can vary by selected size, so confirm the chosen color and dimensions on the product page.

How do standard sizes differ from custom sizes?

Standard-size products use predefined width-and-height combinations. Custom-size products allow you to enter the required finished width and height. Custom shades are priced by square foot, and the page calculator shows the total based on the entered area.

How is a custom shade price calculated?

Custom roller shades start at $5.50 per sq. ft., zebra shades start at $7.43 per sq. ft., and cellular shades start at $9.50 per sq. ft. Color can affect the per-square-foot price. Cordless operation has no motor surcharge; selecting the compatible motorized option adds $135 per shade. Review the calculated total before checkout.

What are INSIDE MOUNT and OUTSIDE MOUNT?

INSIDE MOUNT places the shade within the window opening and requires sufficient unobstructed frame depth. OUTSIDE MOUNT places the shade over the wall or trim and can provide additional overlap to reduce side light gaps.

How should I measure my window?

Measure each window separately with a steel tape measure. Record both width and height in inches and follow the instructions for the selected mount type. Read the complete window measuring guide before ordering a custom shade.

Which shade style is best for my room?

Choose a blackout roller shade for a simple, streamlined appearance and room-darkening coverage. Choose a zebra shade when adjustable daylight and privacy are the priority. Choose a cellular shade for a softer appearance and insulating honeycomb construction. Use our shade style comparison for more detail.
