Blackout Roller Shades for Bedrooms

For bedrooms, a blackout roller shade should do three things well: reduce incoming light, provide privacy, and remain simple to operate every day. SunShieldor offers full-blackout roller shades in standard sizes and made-to-measure sizes, with cordless and rechargeable motorized controls.

Which bedroom roller shade should you choose?

  • Cordless standard size: a practical choice when a listed width and height fit your window.
  • Motorized standard size: convenient for hard-to-reach windows and bedside control.
  • Custom size: use this when the window needs a precise finished width and height.

Inside mount or outside mount?

An inside mount creates a clean, built-in look when the window recess has enough depth. An outside mount covers more of the wall around the opening and can help reduce light gaps. Measure width and height carefully before ordering.

Bedroom blackout roller shade FAQ

Are these room-darkening or blackout shades?

SunShieldor roller shades on this page use full-blackout fabric. Small edge gaps can still occur depending on the mount and window construction.

Should I choose cordless or motorized?

Cordless control is simple and does not require a remote. Motorized control is useful for convenience, tall windows, or multiple shades. Rechargeable remote, Zigbee, Matter, and solar-panel packages are available on eligible products.

What if no standard size fits?

Choose a custom-size roller shade and enter the finished dimensions. Custom shades have a minimum finished width of 11.82 inches (30 cm) and a minimum billable area of 8 square feet per shade.
